If in Doubt Sit Down…

….is my motto and it is appropriate in nearly every situation I can think of. I say nearly because it excludes situations in which sitting down would endanger your life (see i’m not  not just a pretty blog I’m also a safety conscious blog too!) Say for example you are if you are in the middle of a busy road, suddenly panic and don’t know what to do or, in the extremely unlikely event, that you are being chased by a crazed axeman and don’t know how to escape his clutches or his axe, sitting down is probably inadvisable.

However, for the most part sitting down is great and I have remained convinced, for several years now, that I was created with an in-built cushion in the form of an extra squishy bum for this very reason! I’ll show you how it works:

Can’t decide whether or not to go and find someone in a shop or just wait for them outside?…Sit down.

Your feet hurt from walking in heels on a night out and you wonder if you will ever make it home alive, or at least with feet that still look like feet and not giant blisters….Get comfy on the concrete.

You can’t decide whether or not to make a proper dinner or just eat cereal out of the packet…pull up a kitchen floor pew.

Your conscience says work but your heart says read?…sit at your office desk and pretend you are busy whilst reading the electronic version of the new Scarlett Thomas creation online (foolproof).

You need the toilet but there isn’t one in sight and you doubt you could make it anyway…sit down and cry.

You can’t decide whether to go to the gym or just promise that you will go tomorrow…plonk yourself on that sofa.

See, it really is good for most situations, trust me.
