I thought I told you to shut up!

Have you ever had that feeling where someone is annoying you and you think ‘please stop that, it’s annoying’, but they carry on (because they can’t hear your thoughts) so you think harder and in an angrier inside voice you tell them to, ‘stop doing that, it is annoying’? However, despite you asking, albeit silently, twice they still carry on doing the very annoying thing so you think, even more firmly, ‘STOP it, you are really annoying me’.

When they persist, after that, you jump to your feet, throw them a look of contempt and scream, out loud, “WILL YOU STOP DOING THAT, IT IS REALLY ANNOYING ME!!” and they look at you with surprise in their eyes because it turns out that they didn’t realise it was annoying and if you had just said in the first place they would have stopped.

Do thought warnings count for nothing these days!

No, but I have conversations in my head and forget the other person hasn’t heard what, so I end up striking a conversation in the middle and confusing the hell out of them.
