Rocky’s First Birthday – because kittens are people too.

2013-08-04 15.40.47

I couldn’t let our son’s kitten’s first birthday go by without a mention. At first glance, Rocky may not seem like the most useful member, of our little family, but he has certainly found some interesting ways to contribute to our household and no-one can accuse him of not pulling his weight. As if being a kitten wasn’t hard work enough, as well as his regular feline duties (cleaning, rolling around, cleaning) Rocky has also taken on the following jobs……

1. Alarm clock – who else would wake me up, without fail, every single morning at 5:27? Thank god I have you Rockstar!
2. Parking space saver – who else would risk life and limb/tail running in front of my car, to guide me safely into my parking space? I don’t see Ben volunteering.
3. Joker – who else could we rely on to cheer us up by catapulting around the house, skidding on floors and running into walls?
4. Feet Warmer – who else would sacrifice their own sleep time to bite my feet (really hard) when they ventured out of the duvet? This is how I know you care that my feet stay warm!
5. Silicone stripper – who else would take on the unpleasant job of stripping all the silicone from the window sills and ripping it in to more manageable strips so it is easier to dispose of?
6. Guard cat – who else would protect us from rogue sponges, killer mice and balls of socks?

No-one, that’s who!

So Happy Birthday little Pocket Rocket. Thanks for being the best kitten we could ever wish for and so much more xxx

P.s we know that chocolate is poisonous to you so we decided that in honour of your birthday we would eat a big chocolate cake so that there was less of it in the world and less chance you would accidentally eat anything harmful. No need to thank us, we did it because we love you.

A very Happy Birthday to Rocky!

As much as I love my cat Aurora, I must admit that she doesn’t have nearly as many jobs as Rocky does – but maybe that’s because I spoiled her, naming her after a Disney princess….

Happy Birthday Rocky! What an amazing job he’s doing looking after you and it was so good of you to eat that big chocolate cake on his behalf. 😀
