Sick Games

I don’t think I am alone in regularly thinking that I would rather be anywhere else but work. I say anywhere, maybe not hell but that is probably the only exception. So I play a game. It’s called the calling in sick game.

When I get home from work I visualise calling in sick the next day. I imagine all the fun things I will do with my day off and how un-guilty I will feel whilst I am lounging in bed reading and eating Nutella from the jar. I enjoy my night because I know I don’t have to go anywhere the next day.

Then when I wake up to go to work it somehow doesn’t feel so bad. I end up thinking to myself ‘I suppose I might as well go in’ and get to feel a bit like a hero for doing the right thing after all.

Reminding myself that I do have a choice and that one day I might just call in sick (I won’t, but I might) makes me feel just a little bit better.

The weird thing is the trick works every time and everyone wins……except me because I still have to work.

Oh well, I don’t have to think about that right now because I’m calling in sick tomorrow 😉

Interesting strategy, Lydia. I’m all for something that works.

You have to give it a go, anything that makes working a bit less painful 😉 x
