Silence is golden but my words are diamonds

I hate awkward silences.

So if I ever sense an impending awkward silence (the kind that makes you squirm in your seat and goes on for so long that it feels as though everyone can hear your thoughts) I start talking more. In that moment it feels as though my life depends on it and if I didn’t talk I would be held solely responsible for all the awkward silences, in the world, and punished accordingly, so even if I have to embarrass myself, by telling stories about how I got lost on the way to school when it was five minutes down the road, I would rather do that than stay quiet. It makes meeting people even more stressful (for them not me) and usually means that people know about most of the things that have happened in my life just after they learn my name.

I have come to realise that my greatest fear (apart from small spaces, peacocks, windfarms and uneven numbers) is silence and laughter is my drug.

So, if you have ever wondered, that’s why I “talk too much” 😉
