Fear of being wrong

It took a long time for me to post this picture and I still desperately want to correct the spelling. I know that that is exactly the point though. I spend a lot of my time being so worried that I am wrong that I don’t speak up. Often people ask a question and I miss my chance to answer because I don’t trust my first instincts (or my second for that matter!). Although I have a fairly good knowledge of literature I dread any spelling/literary questions in life and in games alike as I feel like I am expected to know the answer and will shoot down in the estimations of my friends if I don’t.

My fear of being wrong, which really translates in to a fear of looking stupid, in the eyes of others, holds me back from embracing my creativity and exploring any skill I may (see I can’t help it) have. I find it hard to take criticism of my writing but I am ridiculously critical of it to the point that I ruin it sometimes because I overdo the analysing and change all the good bits.

So, I know it won’t be easy, but here’s to not being so afraid, to trying new things in my writing and to letting go. Happy Creativity everyone 🙂
