More books?

books

“Guess what I have got everyone for Christmas?” I remember my mum used to ask me, every year, when I was little. “uuuummmmm books?” It was never hard to guess because mum always got everyone books. Even though I loved reading, from a very early age, I used to sigh and ask “again?” because I believed that I could think of things that people would find more useful and enjoyable and I quite fancied a new Polly Pocket myself.

Now I have completely changed my opinion, I think there is a book out there for everyone and it’s just a matter of finding out what you are interested in. My mum proved this to me countless times by buying me and other people presents of books that became treasured possessions and gave enjoyment way past the new craze of roller blades or tazos. I think the younger me just took it for granted that I would always have books because they were always provided for me. Like food, there was always a book to read in the house and books, unlike brand new flares that I needed immediately, existed outside of my pocket money allowance. There was always money for a book.

So thanks mum for giving me my love of books, without it there would be so many worlds that I wouldn’t have experienced and created in my head, so many insights I wouldn’t have been privy to and so many places I wouldn’t have travelled.

So for Christmas, mum, please can i have some more books? Pretty please x
